Edwards Life Belies His Message
|
|
John Edwards message of "two Americas" is straight out of the class-warfare playbook. The message is "you cannot make it unless a trial lawyer like me helps you out." You cannot succeed unless someone like me in Washington gives you what you need (i.e.' free' health insurance, wealth redistribution or tariffs on imported goods) He has exulted in the realization that the son of a mill-worker can go toe-to-toe with the son of a president. But apparently Edwards has forgotten that in America, it is still more important who you are than whose son or daughter you are. John Edward's life contradicts his message. The reality of Edwards life is that he accomplished almost everything without any government assistance, tax-breaks, discount insurance or trial-lawyer advocacy, except his own. Through education, hard-work and perseverance he achieved financial success. The facts of John Edwards life are a complete rejection of the principles he is running on. Except for one possibility... that he thinks you don't have what it takes to succeed. Could John Edwards believe that he is superior to you? Could he believe that the prescription for his success is different than the one for yours? Can it be that John Edwards believes the door of opportunity has closed in America? Certainly it can't be possible that a man who believes such things could run for Vice-President, could it? John Pendleton |
